The Storm Is Not a Setback

There are seasons in life and leadership that feel heavier than they should.
Progress slows. Resistance increases. Questions multiply. And if we’re not careful, we start assuming something has gone wrong. That we’ve missed a step. That we’re behind. That the difficulty itself is evidence of failure.
But that assumption is almost always wrong.
If you’re walking through a difficult season right now, I want to offer three truths that have proven steady for me as a leader, a business builder, and a person of faith.
1. This season will come to an end
Storms are, by nature, temporary.
That does not mean they are short. It does not mean they are easy. And it certainly does not mean they end on our preferred timeline. But they do move through.
What’s important to understand is this: while you’re waiting for the storm to pass, work is still happening. God is not idle. He is not surprised by where you are. Things are being aligned behind the scenes, even when you cannot see the full picture yet.
Waiting is not wasted time. More often than not, it is preparation time.
2. The storm is forming you, not harming you
This is the truth most people resist.
The person you are today may not yet be equipped to handle what exists on the other side of this season. That is not a condemnation. It is an invitation to growth.
Pressure exposes weak structures and strengthens the right ones. In leadership, in business, and in life, capacity is rarely built in comfort. It is built in tension.
What feels like opposition may actually be training. What feels like delay may actually be development.
The storm is not there to keep you down. It is there to stretch you so that when greater responsibility arrives, you can stand under its weight.
3. God’s faithfulness does not depend on yours
Life can be difficult. It can feel unfair, unreasonable, and exhausting.
There are moments when confidence wavers. When resolve thins. When faith feels quieter than we’d like. But God’s faithfulness is not a reflection of our performance. It is rooted in His character.
Even when we struggle to stay consistent, He remains steady.
That matters deeply for leaders. Leadership carries pressure. People depend on you. Decisions have consequences. And yet, you are still human.
You do not have to be perfect in the storm. You only have to remain present within it.
Becoming the person who can carry what’s next
Many people pray for breakthroughs without realizing that breakthroughs require capacity.
What you are walking through right now may be preparing you to actually receive what you have been asking for. Not just to reach it, but to sustain it.
That preparation is rarely comfortable. But it is necessary.
If you are tired, discouraged, or questioning where you are, take heart. This season is doing more than it appears. You are being shaped into someone who can carry greater responsibility, greater influence, and greater impact.
The storm is not the end of your story.
It is part of the formation.
